Elina Tolppa, who played the women's tennis team from 1996-98, was inducted into the Averett Athletics Hall of Fame on Aug. 6, 2011, during an induction ceremony in Helsinki, Finland.
Tolppa was a two-time Rolex National Small College Tennis Singles Champion for Averett in 1996 and 1997. She helped the Cougars win the 1997 conference championship. In 1997, Tolppa earned all-conference recognition at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. A year later, she earned all-conference singles (No. 1 seed) honors.Tolppa was named an ITA All-American in 1997 and 1998 and qualified for the 1997 NCAA Division III individual national championships.
Tolppa also ran cross country while at Averett, earning second team all-conference honors in 1997.
In 2013-14, Tolppa was named to the USA South Conference's 50th Anniversary teams for both women's tennis and cross country.
