A quarterback, Scott Swann was a four-year member of the Averett football program from 2002-05. He earned 2004 USA South All-Conference First Team accolades and finished his career as the leader in most of the program's passing categories — some of which still stand as the top marks more than a decade later. Swann, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, threw for 4,736 yards with 30 passing touchdowns. He completed 424 of 781 passes for a 54.3 completion percentage while averaging 152.8 passing yards per game. He had two 250-yard passing games during his career. His 71-yard pass and 65-yard pass — both in 2004 — still rank among the top-15 longest passing plays in school history. A four-time USA South Academic All-Conference selection, Swann was the 2005 recipient of the USA South's Don Scalf Award. In 2013, he was named to the USA South's 50th Anniversary Football Team.
Swann was inducted into the Averett Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 19, 2019.
