Annis joins women's soccer program as assistant coach

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's soccer head coach Sarah Chapman announced the addition of assistant coach Tahnai Annis to her staff on Tuesday.

Annis joined Averett's program following a successful collegiate and professional career. A native of Zanesville, Ohio, Annis played at Division I University of Florida from 2008-2011. Annis played in 96 games for the Gators, scoring 38 goals with 16 assists. In 2010, she was an All-American and member of the Southeastern Conference's All-Second Team. In 2008, she also earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and SoccerBuzz.com Freshman All-America squad. Off the field, she was named a 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America First Team, earned multiple Academic All-District honors and was a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Annis continued her playing career professionally with Thor/KA in Iceland's Premier Division from 2012-14. Annis started 62 games and scored 19 goals while earning the team's 2013 MVP award and helping her team win the 2012 Icelandic championship.

In addition to her collegiate and professional career, Annis has been a member of the Philippine Women's National Soccer Team since 2015.

"I am very excited for Tahnai to be joining our staff," said Chapman, who was teammates with Annis at Florida. "She is very knowledgeable of the game and has many different experiences with her playing career. She is a great addition to our program."  

Annis graduated from Florida in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sport management and a minor in business administration. She is seeking her master's of business administration with a concentration in marketing from Averett.
