Each year, Cougar student-athletes who achieve success not just athletically, but also in the classroom, receive the honor of being named to the conference’s Academic All-Conference team.
As part of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference since 2022, the ODAC recognizes student-athletes who achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the academic year, and are named to the ODAC All-Academic Team.
In their first year as ODAC members, 110 student-athletes earned All-Academic honors, second-most in a single academic year in school history. In 2023-24, the university set a new school record, as a school-record 143 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic team.
Up until their transition to the ODAC, AU was part of the USA South conference. In all years prior to the 2017-18 academic year, the conference recognized student-athletes who earned a 3.00 GPA. Beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, students must have maintained a 3.30 GPA or higher to earn all-academic honors.
