Averett softball freshman Meredith Rudisill was selected as the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. The catcher from Yanceyville, N.C., went a combined 7-for-10 (.700) with five runs scored, two RBI and one stolen base as the Cougars posted a 4-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader sweep of N.C. Wesleyan College on Saturday, Rudisill saw action in Game 2 and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. In a doubleheader sweep of Maryville College, Rudisill was a combined 5-for-6 with three runs scored, two RBI and one stolen base.
