When Director of Athletics Meg Stevens came to Averett, she instilled a "3-2-1" motto in which she wanted all teams to have a 3.0 grade point average, finish in the top two of the conference and all of athletics work together as one team. Following the fall semester of 2013, Averett's Department of Athletics created a recognition board in the lobby of the E. Stuart James Grant Center to display the individual and team academic achievements for each semester.
Any student-athlete that achieves a 3.0 GPA or higher during either the fall or spring semester will have his or her name listed. Also, the teams with the top average GPAs are listed. The board is updated at the end of each semester.
