Averett softball sophomore Rhyan Scearce was selected as the USA South Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The infielder from Danville, Va., went a combined 8-for-16 (.500) with six runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and two walks as the Cougars posted a 4-2 record last week versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader sweep of Methodist University on March 19, Scearce was a combined 4-for-4 with two runs scored, one double and one walk. In a doubleheader split with LaGrange College on March 22, Scearce was a combined 3-for-6 with three RBI, one run scored and one double. Finally, in a doubleheader split with Huntingdon College on March 23, Scearce was a combined 1-for-6 with three runs scored and one walk.
