Volleyball sophomore Hannah Shields opened the season with a solid week of performances. Helping Averett start 5-1 on the season, Shields averaged 4.95 kills, with a .234 hitting percentage, 2.55 digs and 0.86 service aces per set. She earned USA South Conference Player of the Week honors, as well as Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team recognition.
