Football sophomore Travis Jones was named the USA South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. A native of Danville, Virginia, Jones became the first Averett player to have three career kickoff returns for a touchdown when he took one 83 yards for a score against N.C. Wesleyan. He also becomes only the second player in program history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a single season. Also serving as Averett's running back, Jones compiled a single-game school-record 325 all-purpose yards (246 kick return, 55 rushing, 24 receiving). The 246 kick return yards establishes a new USA South single-game record.
