Football sophomore Chase Bailey earned USA South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors Monday after his 35-yard field goal in overtime lifted the Cougars to a 31-28 win over conference rival Ferrum College on Saturday. A kicker from Culpeper, Virginia, Bailey nailed the 35-yarder on Averett's first possession in overtime. Ferrum had first possession in overtime, which was halted by an Averett interception. The Cougars got their turn, needing either a touchdown or a field goal to clinch the win. When the drive halted at the Ferrum 18-yard line, Bailey played the hero with the first game-ending field goal in program history. Bailey also went 4-for-4 on extra point attempts against the Panthers.
