Softball junior shortstop Jessica Long had a monster week in which she received multiple accolades. Named the USA South Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Long was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Week. Long went a combined 16-for-23 (.696) while hitting in the leadoff spot with a .957 slugging percentage, 10 runs scored, one run batted in, four doubles, one triple, two walks and a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen bases as Averett (7-8) posted a 4-2 record last week. Long also played flawless defense during that stretch.
