Men's wrestling sophomore Mason Barrett was named one of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Wrestlers of the Week on Dec. 6. Barrett, a native of Bealeton, Virginia, finished as the runner-up at 125 pounds at York College's New Standard Invitational held Dec. 2-3. In four matches, Barrett faced three nationally ranked opponents and beat two of them. After topping SUNY Brockport's Liam Bullock by a 12-2 major decision, Barrett knocked of the No. 1 wrestler in the nation at 125 when he edged Washington and Lee University's Riley Parker by a 3-1 decision in the quarterfinals. Barrett then knocked off the No. 9 wrestler in the country with his 4-3 decision against The College of New Jersey's Ryan Rosenthal in the semifinals. Barrett's only loss came in the finals against Johnson & Wales University's Joziah Fry, who is ranked No. 6 in the nation and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the New Standard Invitational.
