Football fifth-year defensive end Jahlin Russell was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week after Averett's win at Guilford. Russell, a native of Richmond, Virginia, led the Cougars with nine tackles (six solo) that featured 4.0 for a loss. Those stops behind the line of scrimmage included 3.0 quarterback sacks with one as a strip-sack (fumble recovered by Guilford). His three-sack outing is the most in a single-game for an Averett player since Tristan Quick registered 4.5 against LaGrange on Nov. 6, 2021. Russell cost the Quakers 26 yards of offense with 25 of those coming on his sacks.
