Freshman Carlota Gonzalez secured Averett's first ever track and field event victory with her performance in the women's javelin throw at the Lenoir-Rhyne Bear Open. Gonzalez topped the charts with a distance of 32.66 meters in order to take the crown. She is now ranked No. 46 in latest TFRRS rankings.
