In the men's 100-meter dash at Lynchburg's Hornet Open, freshman Zaiyon Evans placed third overall. Evans followed his bronze medal result with another fine finish, this time coming home fourth in the 200-meter dash. The fast freshman was not the only Cougar to impress on the day, as Averett was able to find success as a team as well. Evans combined with his teammates to guide the Cougars to a fourth-place finish in the men's 4x100 relay.
