Nate Barker, a senior goalkeeper from Cave Creek, Ariz., collected the two wins last week for the Cougars last weekend and was named the USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week. In 138 minutes of action, Barker allowed just one goal and made 10 saves. In a 3-1 win over Christopher Newport University, Barker became the first Cougar goalie to defeat the Captains since 1994 as he stopped six shots. In a 4-3 overtime win at Chowan University, Barker played 48 minutes and did not allow a goal while making four saves.
