Averett freshman football player Joshua Walker was selected as the USA South Conference Defensive Rookie of the Week on Oct. 7. The linebacker from Mint Hill, N.C., a grabbed his first career interception in Averett's 48-0 loss to USA South foe Maryville College. Walker also tallied two solo tackles and six assisted take downs in the defeat.
