Averett's football team opens the 2009 campaign at Bridgewater College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cougars are coming off a 5-5 season, but they won three of their final four games in 2008. They'll look to carry the momentum over into 2009, beginning with the Eagles, who went 4-6 last season.
