DANVILLE, Va.— The Averett women's soccer team picked up it's second conference win in row by defeating Methodist University 2-0 Friday at the Cougar Den.

After the two teams traded possession for the early part of the game, Averett (6-2, 2-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute when freshman Emma Brady scored off of a pass from fellow freshman Allison Lord directly in front of the Monarch goal.

The Cougars dealt with foul trouble throughout the rest of the game, but freshmen Pernilla Milton added an unassisted insurance goal with only eight minutes left on the clock to give the Averett defense a comfortable cushion.

Methodist (6-2-1, 0-1-1) was led by Danielle Minichello's two shots on the Averett goal. Kasey Nichols recorded 11 saves for the Monarchs.

Averett goalie Samantha Lupo recorded three saves in her second shutout of the season.

The Cougars will return to action on Sunday for a 12 p.m. match against Greensboro College at the Cougar Den.
