LAGRANGE, Ga. — Averett University volleyball knocked off Huntingdon College 3-0, then topped host LaGrange College 3-1 to earn the Cougars a pair of USA South Conference road wins on Saturday afternoon. The victories also pushed 20th-year head coach

Averett (17-12, 11-4 USA South) dispatched Huntingdon (5-19, 0-9 USA South) with a sweep, besting the Hawks 25-19, 25-13 and 25-10. Freshman
Hannah Shields led the way with 15 kills and seven digs, while freshman
Sarah Smoot added 10 kills. Senior
Nicole Barringer had a team-high eight digs with 34 assists and freshman
Christiana Summa finished with seven digs.
The Cougars moved Miller within one victory of the 500-win milestone with a four-set win over LaGrange (12-15, 4-7 USA South). Averett lost the first set 26-24, but won the next three 25-18, 25-9 and 25-17. Shields finished with 24 kills and eight digs, Smoot had 11 kills and Summa added 16 digs. Junior
Katelyn Holley added 11 digs and Barringer made 45 assists.
Averett will return to action on Wednesday at home against Mary Baldwin College at 7 p.m. at the Grant Center.
