LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Averett University's men's soccer team lost a close contest to conference foe Covenant College 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars (4-10-1, 2-5-1 USA South) battled the Scots (10-4-2, 6-1-1 USA South) in the first half, keeping Covenant scoreless.

Nathan Brown had a chance to put Averett ahead in the 47th minute, but the Scots' goalkeeper Daniel Kubin blocked Brown's shot, holding the score at 0-0.
The Scots' Snoopy Davidson took a cross to the center from Michael Arango and headed his shot past Cougars' senior goalkeeper
Martin Erenstedt in the 66th minute from 6 yards out, giving Covenant a 1-0 lead.
Davidson's goal would be the only shot on goal in the second half as both squads' defense battled each other in the midfield.

Christopher Koenig had one look at goal. Freshman forward
Tobias Andreasson booted a shot for Averett. Erenstedt recorded six saves in goal for the Cougars.
Averett returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia, at 2 p.m.
