ROANOKE, Va. — Hollins University went on 7-0 run in the last three minutes of regulation to defeat the Averett University women's basketball team 64-57 on Saturday afternoon.

Averett (1-2) led the entire way in the first half by as much as 12, but Hollins (2-2) came into the second half with momentum after hitting three 3-pointers in a two-and-a-half-minute span to trim the lead to 38-34 at halftime. Hollins drained nine shots from behind the arc to shoot 42.9 percent in the game.

Hollins led for the first time at the 14:57 mark when Jewelianna Parfitt drilled a 3 to take a 41-40 lead. Parfitt knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points.

Despite 14-4 run by Hollins in the first 10 minutes of the half, the Cougars regained the lead when freshman center
Jonna Koski sank a short jumper with 8:01 on the clock, but Averett continued to trade baskets with Hollins. After a series ties, Hollins' Taylor Catron hit a 3-pointer and held off Averett until the end.

Jessica Myers led the Cougars with 15 points and three steals, and freshman guard
Samm Chandler ended the game with 10 points and six steals.

Koski finished with nine points and 10 rebounds for Averett while sophomore forwards
Alexis Sollars and
Brianna Taylor added eight points each.

The Cougars return home on Dec. 2 to play Guilford College at 7 p.m.
