The Averett University volleyball team opens play at the Christopher Newport University Invitational on Friday with No. 3 Christopher Newport at 3 p.m. Averett also takes on Bethany College at 5:30 p.m.

Averett (8-3) is coming off a 3-0 win over Ferrum College on Wednesday.
