The Averett football team opens its 2015 season on the road at non-conference foe Washington and Lee University on Friday at 7 p.m. in Lexington, Virginia.

The Cougars were picked sixth in the USA South Conference preseason poll, while Washington and Lee was also chosen sixth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The two teams have met five previous times, with Averett holding a 3-2 edge in the series. The Cougars have won the last three meetings.
