FAYETEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University men's basketball team had four players score in double digits and the Cougars picked up their second consecutive road conference win defeating Methodist University 73-61 on Wednesday night at Riddle Center.

Bradley Robinson scored a season-high 20 points while senior
Trevor West chipped in with 13 points. Senior Cater Jones added 12 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds and junior
Charles Bryant recorded 10 points.
Clinging to a 62-61 lead at the 3:34 mark, Averett (12-4, 3-2 USA South) got a shot to the arm thanks to a 3-pointer from senior
Devontae Pannell that made the score 65-61. From there, the Cougars defense came up big, holding Methodist (5-11, 1-4 USA South) without a basket for the remainder of the game on their way to a 11-0 run that helped Averett seal the game.
Robinson moved into fifth place on Averett's all-time scoring list with 1,206 points, passing Jay Tate (1996-2000), who had 1,189. He is now 20 points from behind Justin Pierce (2009-2013), who recorded 1,226 points.
After a tight first half that ended with Averett leading 33-28, the Cougars outscored the Monarchs 17-10 over the first six minutes of the second period to take their biggest lead of the night thanks to a 3-pointer from West that made it 50-38 with 13:15 on the clock.
Averett shot 43.3 percent from the field and went 6 of 11 from the free throw line. Defensively, the Cougars forced 20 Monarchs' turnovers that led Averett to 25 points.
The Cougars take the court again on Jan. 23 when they host Covenant College in USA South action at 2 p.m.
