DANVILLE, Va. — Bridgewater College used two goals in the first 20 minutes to help hand the Averett University women's soccer team a 4-0 defeat on Tuesday on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Isabella Weigel took a pass from Keri Rager and buried her shot into the back of the net to give Bridgewater (8-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the third minute. The Eagles doubled down on their lead 13 minutes later when Rager added a goal to her assist to give Bridgewater a two-goal advantage.
The Eagles used a pair of second half goals to put the game out of reach for Averett (6-5). Isabella Krider scored in the 53rd minute to give the Cougars a three-goal deficit, while Bridget Fabiani's goal on an assist from Katherine Wight at the 68:09 mark led to the final score.
Sophomore
Bailee Brown recorded eight saves between the sticks for the Cougars.
Averett returns to the pitch on Saturday when it travels to Fayetteville, North Carolina, to take on conference foe Methodist University at 2 p.m.
