MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Averett University volleyball opened the USA South Conference schedule with a pair of wins on Friday afternoon. The Cougars edged host Maryville College 3-2, then rolled past newcomer Wesleyan College 3-0.
To open the day, Averett (10-6, 2-0 USA South) and Maryville (5-8, 0-1 USA South) were locked in a five-set battle in which the Cougars won 25-20, 11-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-12.
