DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University volleyball beat conference foe Ferrum College 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Grant Center.
Averett (25-3, 12-0 USA South) defeated the Panthers 25-13, 25-15, 14-25 and 25-18.
The Cougars cruised through the first two sets, easily putting Ferrum (4-19, 1-11 USA South) in a 2-0 hole in the match. A scrappy Panthers squad didn't go away quickly, forcing a fourth set against Averett. The Cougars responded by knocking off Ferrum in the fourth frame to win their 37th consecutive regular season conference match.

Averett travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Friday for a USA South tri-match hosted by Salem College. The Cougars play Salem at at 3 p.m. and Meredith College at 5 p.m.
