DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's soccer team lost a hard-fought battle as Greensboro College won 1-0 in USA South Conference action to spoil Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.

After both squads finished the first half scoreless, Greensboro (16-2, 5-2 USA South) tallied its first and only goal of the match. Angela Niles scored on a header from a cross by teammate Devin D'Agostin to put Greensboro on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute.

Averett (3-9-2, 1-6 USA South) fought aggressively to move the ball up the field for good opportunities, but the Cougars fell short to strike the ball between the posts as both teams struggled to shoot on target. Â
Junior goalkeeper
Bailee Brown totaled 12 saves for Averett between the pipes.
The loss ends the season for the Cougars.
