LAGRANGE, Ga. — Averett University men's soccer dropped a conference game 3-2 at LaGrange College on a rainy Sunday morning.
Averett (4-7-2, 3-4-1 USA South) took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on junior
David Cuperman's 10th goal of the season, which was assisted by junior
Huso Dukic. However, LaGrange (3-6-2, 1-3-2 USA South) answered less than 10 minutes later to tie the contest, 1-1, on Brandon Burrell's goal.
Tied 1-1 at the break, LaGrange tacked on a go-ahead goal in the 67th minute, and an insurance goal in the 75th minute to take a 3-1 advantage.
The Cougars pulled back within 3-2 on junior
Ville Hautakangas' third goal of the season. Senior
Simon Holmstrom found Hautakangas for a score in the 83rd minute. Yet, time ran out on Averett's comeback changes.
Averett returns home for a conference game with Methodist University on Saturday.
