DANVILLE, Va. – The Averett University women's basketball team trotted to an easy 60-40 conference victory over Mary Baldwin University on Saturday afternoon at the Grant Center.

After a close first quarter, Averett (16-8, 9-4 USA South) pulled ahead by 10 (25-15) in the second period on a steal from
Frida Lundquist that led to a layup on the opposite end. Before going into the break, Lundquist nailed two consecutive 3-pointers to put the Cougars up 36-23 at halftime. She led the Cougars with 11 points and five rebounds.

Averett held Mary Baldwin (2-22, 0-13 USA South) to just seven points in the third quarter, and the Fighting Squirrels never managed to get in front of the Cougars. Averett led by as much as 24 at the 3:35 mark in the fourth period.

Joelle Deese finished with 11 points while junior guard
Samm Chandler followed with eight points and nine rebounds. Â

Mary Baldwin's Khai Davidson paced her squad with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cougars hit the court again tomorrow for their last regular season game as they take on Ferrum College at the Grant Center at 2 p.m. Averett will also celebrate its Senior Day. Â
