FERRUM, Va. — Averett University cruised past conference foe Ferrum College 3-0 on Tuesday night, winning by scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-17 to remain unbeaten in the USA South Conference.
Although Ferrum (1-10, 0-4 USA South) led 9-4 early on, Averett (15-2, 4-0 USA South) overtook the Panthers by winning eight of the next nine points. The Cougars didn't look back, as they dispatched Ferrum in three sets in a little more than an hour.
After winning the first set, Averett dominated the second frame. Up 8-7, the Cougars rattled off 11 consecutive points to help put away Ferrum. That momentum continued into the third set as Averett opened the final game with a 6-1 lead en route to a 25-17 win to seal the match.

Brianna Williams with six kills and sophomore
Madison Dadez with five kills. Junior
Emily Stanley notched a team-high 12 digs and freshman
McKenzie Miller posted 22 assists.
Averett hosts a USA South tri-match on Saturday, beginning with an 11 a.m. meeting with Meredith College. The Cougars also play Salem College at 3 p.m.
