The Series: Averett is 3-2 all-time against LaGrange, including two consecutive victories against the Panthers. The Cougars are 2-1 all-time in games at LaGrange, including a 65-62 win in four overtimes in their last visit there in 2016.
Averett at a Glance: The Cougars face their first USA South Conference road test at LaGrange. Averett is fresh off a 54-0 shutout of Greensboro College on Homecoming that saw the Cougars dominate on offense, defense and special teams. Junior Jacob Wright threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns — all in the first half — and the defense slammed the door on the Pride, holding Greensboro to just 24 yards passing and 85 total yards of offense. Junior Cole Westberry earned USA South Special Teams Player of the Week honors after hitting field goals of 49 yards and 44 yards. Freshman defensive end Joseph Ledbetter led the Cougars with seven tackles, including two sacks, and a forced fumble. Ledbetter was named the USA South Defensive Player of the Week and Defensive Rookie of the Week on Monday.
LaGrange at a Glance: LaGrange fell 35-14 at N.C. Wesleyan College last week. Although the Panthers are only 1-3, they've played tough competition and have averaged 26.3 points per game. They produced strong offensive numbers, especially in the passing game early in the season.
