BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Averett University men's lacrosse program fell to non-conference foe Bridgewater College 25-2 on Saturday.

Brenner Woodcock picked up his first career goal late in the third quarter to put Averett (0-2) on the scoreboard. Freshman
Keshawn Downing netted his second career goal midway through the fourth quarter to account for the Cougars' other goal. However, it wasn't enough against an established Bridgewater (1-0), which opened with a 9-0 lead after the first quarter.

Bryan Minaya recorded the assist on Woodcock's goal with 32 seconds left in the third quarter.

Jacob Shriver totaled 14 saves in goal for the Cougars.
Averett plays its first home contest in its inaugural season next Saturday, Feb. 24, against Greensboro College.
