The Cougars used several big plays, including a conference-record 100-yard kickoff return for touchdown by senior Bradley Jefferson, to pull away. Averett scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams. With all facets clicking, the Cougars will look to take that momentum into Saturday's game against Hampden-Sydney's biggest rival, Randolph-Macon.
Randolph-Macon at a Glance: The Yellow Jackets, the co-preseason favorites in the ODAC, ran into No. 19 Johns Hopkins University in their season opener, falling 63-31 on the road. Randolph-Macon has a formidable offense, especially at running back, and the defense will look to bounce back after giving up 606 yards of total offense to Johns Hopkins.
