DEMOREST, Ga. — The Averett University women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Piedmont College on Saturday as part of the Piedmont College Invitational.
Both sides sported a strong defense in the first half limiting each other's scoring chances and momentum going forward. Averett (0-4) senior goalkeeper
Bailee Brown made two saves in the opening period to help keep the game scoreless heading into the halftime break.
Piedmont (2-1-1) came out firing on all cylinders to open the second half as Veronica Cappas broke the scoreless tie with her goal in the 49
th minute of play. The Lions kept up the offensive pressure and it paid off as Piedmont collected two goals in a span of 62 seconds to take a 3-0 lead.
From here, the Cougars began to find their offensive rhythm as they put pressure on the Piedmont back line. Seniors

Kaitlyn Barbour both puts shot attempts on frame that forced a save from the Lions goalkeeper.
Unfortunately, Piedmont was able to keep Averett off the board while collecting another goal of their own on their way to a 4-0 victory.
Averett wraps up the Piedmont College Invitational on Sunday when they face Agnes Scott College at 12 p.m.
