MISENHEIMER, N.C.  — The Averett University men's basketball team dropped a 95-79 decision to Pfeiffer University on the road Wednesday evening in USA South Conference play.

Pfeiffer (9-8, 4-6 USA South) came out firing on all cylinders early to open the matchup taking 25-13 lead midway through the opening half before closing out the half on a 34-18 run to take a 59-31 lead into halftime.Â

The Falcons would come out of the half and push their lead to as many as 30 points with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation.

Averett (3-15, 3-7 USA South) would not go down without a fight, managing to mount a late second half run to cut Pfeiffer's lead to 12 points with just under two minutes remaining, however the early first half deficit was too much for the Cougars to overcome as the Falcons converted from the free throw line late to put the lead back to 16 points.Â

Junior
Timothy Henry turned in arguably his most impressive game as a member of the Cougars as the forward scored a career-high 24 points and collected a game and career-high 15 rebounds for the contest.

Freshman
Isaiah Jones scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cougars, while sophomore
Raymond Bullock III turned in nine points and seven rebounds on the evening.Â

Pfeiffer's Kyle Riddley led all scores with 27 points as the Falcons shot 56.7 percent from the field to the Cougars 47.8 percent.

Averett returns back to action Saturday, Jan. 26 as they travel to Fayetteville, N.C. for a conference meeting with Methodist University at  2 p.m.
