Averett University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be holding a 'Coins for Cancer' fundraising event during the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 2, starting at 2 p.m. at the Grant Center to collect donations that will go to the Nick Price Foundation.

Details for the event are as follows:
  • Averett men's soccer freshman student-athlete Nick Price founded the non-profit Nick Price Foundation after overcoming the odds of beating brain cancer in 2015. His foundation helps fund cancer treatments and surgeries for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. Read more about Nick's story here.
  • The 'Coins for Cancer' event this weekend will contribute to the conference-wide 'Pennies for a Purpose' competition, where the Averett SAAC is looking to win the competition for the fifth straight year.
  • During the doubleheader, SAAC will be selling T-shirts and wristbands, as well as holding a raffle and other games.
