DANVILLE, Va.
— In the final game of the 2019 season, the Averett University soccer team fell to William Peace University, 3-0, on Senior Day on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium on Saturday.
Averett (0-18, 0-8 USA South) got some momentum early, taking two shots in the first seven minutes, but William Peace (7-10-1, 3-5 USA South) got on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute, a lead that stay true until halftime. In the second half, the Pacers added goals in the 48th and 73rd minutes to close out the game.
As part of Senior Day, seniors
Kirsten Clancy and
Emily Meador were honored during a pregame ceremony. On the day, Clancy finished with two shots while Meador recorded three shots and one on goal. Sophomores
Johanna Stichel and
Jenny Montes also took one shot each for Averett. In goal, sophomore
Morgann Dills made 10 saves.
This marked the conclusion of Averett's 2019 season.
