DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University volleyball made quick work of Mary Baldwin University, beating the Fighting Squirrels 3-0 to stay unbeaten in USA South Conference play on Thursday night at the Grant Center. The Cougars won 25-8, 25-12 and 25-17.
As a team, Averett (8-9, 5-0 USA South) hit a season-high .372 against Mary Baldwin (1-17, 0-4 USA South), including a .474 hitting percentage in the first set as the Cougars quickly jumped out to the early lead.
Freshman
Lauren Montren led Averett with a double-double o2 12 kills and 10 digs while hitting .409. Senior
Madison Dadez also tallied eight kills while hitting .467 from the middle. Averett also got 34 assists from junior
McKenzie Miller and a team-high 13 digs from junior
Myka Patterson. Senior
Harper Scollo added six service aces for the Cougars.
Averett hits the road Saturday for Raleigh, North Carolina, on Saturday when the Cougars face Pfeiffer University and William Peace University in a conference tri-match hosted by the Pacers. Averett plays at 2 and 4 p.m.
