DANVILLE, Va. — Sophomore
Camryn Lunsford scored a career-high 18 points in Averett University women's basketball's 77-63 loss to N.C. Wesleyan College on Wednesday.
Averett (6-4, 1-2 USA South) jumped out to an early 19-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter, however the Battling Bishops rebounded in the second quarter to even the score 23-23 heading into halftime.
N.C. Wesleyan (7-2, 3-0 USA South) benefitted from a 20-11 third quarter advantage to take control and hang on for the 77-63 final.
Senior
Brooke Carthon finished second on the team with 14 point and seven rebounds, while fellow senior
Ravyn Johnson finished with a team-high 11 rebounds and eight points.
In addition to Lunsford's career offensive night, the guard finished with six rebounds and two assits to go along with a game-high four steals.
Averett returns back to action Jan. 2 when it travels to Buena Vista, Virgina for a 5 p.m. battle against Southern Virginia University to open the spring portion of the 2019-20 schedule.
