DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's wrestling team fell 32-13 to No. 25 Ferrum College on Friday night.

Sophomore
Sam Braswell collected his 25th win of the season with a 16-6 major decision victory at 125 pounds. The Daytona Beach, Florida, native led 7-4 at the end of the second period. Braswell would go on to score three takedowns and a 2-point near fall to pull away for the win and the 4-0 Averett (6-10) lead in the dual.

Ferrum (11-2) would tie the dual at four with a major decision victory of their own at 133 pounds. Sophomore
Brandon Woody tallied his 30th win of the year with a 14-5 victory at 141 pounds to give the lead right back to Averett. With the score tied at four in the third period, Woody was able to collect two takedowns and six points by near fall in the last minute of the match to run away for the win.

After a decision for the Panthers at 149 pounds, freshman
Jared Lough extended his bout win streak to seven with a 15-0 technical fall victory at 157 pounds. The Stafford, Virginia, native scored 14 points in the first period alone, recording a takedown and 12 points by near fall before attaining an escape at the beginning of the second to secure the win and the 13-7 Averett lead. Lough is now 32-4 on the year.

Unfortunately, the Panthers would win the final five bouts, registering three falls, a major decision and a decision for the 32-13 win.
