SALEM, Va. — The Averett University baseball team dropped a 6-0 decision to Roanoke College on the road Wednesday evening.

Roanoke (5-7, 2-0 ODAC) scored the games first run in the bottom of the second inning and later added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead.Â

Tucker Majetic connected on the Cougars first hit in Wednesday's contest, lacing a single down the left field line.  Sophomore
Tanner Bradshaw singled up the middle the following inning and freshman
Nate Tuck doubled down the left field life in the top of the ninth inning.

Tyler Butler pitched well in relief for Averett pitching two scoreless innings, surrendering just a lone hit while striking out four batters.Â

Roanoke starter Connor Chiulli kept the Cougars at bay throughout Wednesday's matchup as the right-hander threw a complete game shutout, allowing three hits and striking out five.Â

Averett will take a brief break from baseball action before hosting Tufts University, Tuesday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Owen-Fulton Field.
