DEMOREST Ga. — The Averett University men's lacrosse team suffered a 21-3 loss on the road to Piedmont College on Saturday afternoon.
Piedmont (4-6, 1-1 USA South) scored the first four goals of the game, before Averett (1-8, 0-3 USA South) answered with a goal from freshman
Parker Corbett, his second of the season, off the assist from sophomore
Joonas Mattila to make it a 4-1 game heading into the second quarter. The Lions then pulled away in the second quarter, scoring seven goals to take an 11-1 lead heading into the halftime break. The Cougars scored two more goals in the second half but Piedmont put up 10 more to ice the game.
Sophomore
Rafael Walker had a busy day, scoring his first goal of the season while adding an assist and leading the team with six ground balls. Freshman
Mason Foy added his team-high ninth goal of the season in the fourth quarter, making it five straight games where he's scored a goal. Freshman
Tyler Moodie added an assist as well. Defensively, freshman
Sam Garrett tied Walker for the team lead with six ground balls, while freshman
Michael Kravalis had four ground balls and a team-high three caused turnovers. Sophomore
Jacob Shriver made 12 saves in goal.
Averett returns home on March 30 to host Methodist University at 4 p.m.
