Averett at a Glance: Averett split a doubleheader at the University of Lynchburg on Thursday. The Cougars lost 6-5 in 8 innings against the Hornets, who were receiving the most votes among teams receiving votes outside of the NFCA Top 25. Averett followed with a 4-2 win in Game 2. The Cougars have earned recognition several times this season, including taking three USA South weekly awards on Monday. Junior Kaitlyn Aherron was named the USA South Player of the Week, freshman Anna Coleman was named the Rookie of the Week and freshman Hannah Thompson was selected as the Rookie pitcher of the Week for the third consecutive week.
