GREENSBORO, N.C. — In the final game of the 2019 season, the Averett University men's lacrosse fell to Greensboro College in conference action, 15-4, on the road on Saturday.
Averett (1-12, 0-7 USA South) tied the game at 1 early on, before Greensboro (7-10, 2-5 USA South) piled on six straight goals to take a 10-3 lead at halftime. The Pride kept this momentum going in the second half, tacking on five more goals while holding the Cougars to one.
Freshman
Mason Foy scored one of the team's four goals to give him a program record of 17 on the year and extend his streak to nine straight games with at least one goal. Freshmen
Tyler Moodie,
Marques Fleming and
Sam Garrett scored the team's other goals on the game, while freshman
Lucas Jayne had an assist.
Defensively, Garrett led the team with seven ground balls and added two caused turnovers, giving him 85 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers on the year, both of which rank in the top five in the conference and broke program records from last season. Freshman
Michael Kravalis logged a team-high three caused turnovers to go along with three ground balls. In goal, sophomore
Jacob Shriver made 15 saves and added four ground balls.
This game concludes the 2019 season for Averett.
