DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse senior
Alixis Roccia was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America
® At-Large First Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for Division III. In the process, Roccia became the first Cougar to earn Google Cloud Academic All-America ® honors in two sports.
Roccia, a midfielder from Fort Mill, South Carolina, was named to the USA South All-Conference Third Team and earned USA South All-Tournament Team honors this season as Averett had its best season in program history. Roccia scored 49 goals with 24 assists in 16 games. She also had a team-high 58 ground balls to go with 61 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers. Off the field, Roccia graduated in three years with a 4.00 grade point average while majoring in psychology in May 2018. She returned for her final season while pursuing her master's degree in education and has a 4.00 GPA as well.
Previously, Roccia was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large First Team this spring, which qualified her for Academic All-America honors. Roccia also earned Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team and Academic All-District First Team in women's basketball this year.
