DANVILLE, Va.
— The Averett University men's soccer team lost to Bridgewater College, 1-0, on the road on Wednesday.
Averett (0-3) held Bridgewater (1-2) in check in the first half, as the teams went into the halftime break knotted up at 0-0. However, the Eagles struck early in the second half, as Thomas White scored in the 51st minute to take a 1-0 lead. Neither of the teams scored from there as Bridgewater slipped away with the win.
Sophomore
Johnny Kummander led the team with two shots on the day, while sophomores
Owen Story and
Kellen Fees also recorded shots for the Cougars. In goal, junior
Colton Dutchess made four saves.
Averett returns to action on Saturday as it faces Randolph College on the road at 4 p.m.
