Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. — Sophomore Isaiah Jones capped off Averett University men's basketball's 74-69 victory over William Peace University in grand style on Friday evening.

Jones finished the night with a team-high 15 points, throwing down two monstrous breakaway dunks and rejecting a late Pacers layup attempt with time winding down to help preserve the victory.

Averett (10-6, 6-2 USA South) never trailed Friday evening in USA South Conference action as senior Tim Henry got going early and often against William Peace scoring six of the teams opening eight points, before finishing the half with 11 points.

The Cougars led by as many as 14-points with just over five minutes remaining in the first half, however, William Peace capitalized on a late run to pull within 29-24 over the Cougars, but Jones and junior Raymond Bullock III netted back-to-back 3-pointers to extend the lead.

Ball movement was the key to the Cougars strong first half, as the team finished the opening frame with eight assists and shoot 50 percent from the floor, while limiting the Pacers to just 26 opening half points.

William Peace (6-9, 4-3 USA South) came out of the half and cut back into the Cougars lead, but Bullock III caught fire in the second half on his way to tying Jones with a team-high 15 points.

However, Bullock III's run was short lived as the Pacers chipped away at Averett's lead with time running down, pulling within three points with under 30 seconds remaining and having a chance to cut deeper into the lead, before Jones iced the game.

Averett finished the night with four players in double-digits as Henry finished with 14 and junior Montre' Cash added 13 points, the bulk coming late in the fourth quarter.

Additionally, Bullock III and Henry finished with a team-high seven rebounds, while Cash pulled down six rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists and added three steals.

The Cougars will put their four-game winning steak to the test on Wednesday when they return back to the Grant Center for a 7:30 p.m. meeting with Greensboro College.
