DANVILLE, Va.
— Averett University wrestling juniors
Sam Braswell and
Brandon Woody have cracked the top 10 of the d3wrestle.com and Intermat polls for the fifth consecutive time, released earlier this week. Braswell is ranked fifth in both polls while Woody ranks eighth on Intermat and ninth on d3wrestle.com.
Since the previous polls, Braswell earned a win by tech fall against Saint Andrews University and also had a 3-0 showing at the SUNY Cortland Duals, where he had two wins by decision and one by pin. Additionally, prior to Thursday night, Braswell was on a 16-match winning streak. He currently has a record 21-3.
Woody has also been on a hot streak, currently riding a 16-match winning streak and holding a team-best record of 31-1. This also includes a win against Saint Andrews, a 3-0 showing at the SUNY Cortland Duals and a win in Thursday's home Washington and Lee Dual, combining for three pins, one tech fall and one win by decision in those duals.
Averett is back in action in a dual against Bluefield College on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.
